Ah, Yes finally something completely different on the tube! Dexter is dark, strangely gripping and unlike anything I've ever seen on television. When was the last time you found yourself rooting for a murderer? Dexter Morgan is easily one of the most disturbing character's I've seen in a long time, yet I find myself anxiously waiting to see what he'll do next. His job by day is to help get the bad guys, yet I root for him to really get the bad guys at night when he delivers his own brand of vigilante justice. Will this guy ever get caught? How deep does his disturbing psyche go? What happened to him before he went to the foster home? Will he ever have a functional relationship with a woman? I for one cannot wait to see how this brilliant series will play out over the next few years. And make no mistake about it -- I believe this series will be around for a long time to come.

How to repair a CFL bulb?

This will describe how to repair a faulty CFL bulb try rhis and save some money so you can go to Mc Donalds or something.

Dismantle the faulty CFL bulb, first. This requires a bit of patience and alertness as some bulbs are difficult to disassemble and it is hazardous if you break the glass. After seperating the ballast, closely observe the circuit.

In some ballast circuits there is a fuse or a 10 Ω resistor as a fuse. First check whether it is O.K. Sometimes there may be burnt paths in the PCB, or there may be burnt, cracked or blasted components. Usually these are transistors, resistors and capacitors.

If so, you can clean the circuit board and retrace the burnt path and repair it or else you can simply replace the faulty item with new ones. Make sure to keep the correct pin arrangement when you replace a component.

If there is no prominent visible fault, then check each item with a digital multimeter. You can do it without desoldering any component.

First check the two transistors. In many cases this is the most vulnerable item. Locate the three nodes of the both transistors on the PCB. Place the two multimeter leads on two of them and note the reading. Check the same two nodes of the other transistor and the reading should be nearly the same. If not one is faulty. Then you can check if one transistor is out of order or short circuited. If so, replace this with an equivalent transistor. According to my experience, most of the time MJE13001, or 13003 will do the job perfectly.

If a transistor is out, then, most probably a close by resistor is out. You can check all the resistors while they are on the board itself. They should give a very close reading to their value acording to color code.

After that, check whether the diodes are O.K. They should conduct only in oneway. In some ballast circuits there is an item called Diac usually marked 'DB3'. This cannot be checked with a multimeter. But don't worry it is very very unlikely that the bulb doesn't light due to its fault.

If you have a digital multimeter which can check capacitors ( like Model No. DT 9205) then you can check each capacitor for faults. This of course is very seldom.

Finally, check the continuity of the two inductor coils and the PCB paths. I have experienced one CFL ballast which had all the components functioning perfectly but it failed merely due to an improper solder joint in one end of an inductor coil.

19 އޭޕްރިލް 2010 ވަނަ ދުވަހުގެރޭ، 10:00 ގައި ވީޓީވީ އިން ގެނެސްދިން "ހޫނު ގޮނޑި" ޕޮރޮގްރާމް ބަލަމުން ގެންދިޔައީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ސިޔާސީ އަދި ޑިމޮކްރެޓިކް ހަޔާތާއި ދޭތެރޭގައި ވިސްނާލުމަށް އިތުރަށް ސިކުނޑި ތާޒާކޮށްލުމުގެ ބޭނުމުގައެވެ. ކުރީގެ ރައީސް މައުމޫނު އެރޭ ޕްރޮގްރާމްގެ މެހެމާނުގެ ގޮޑީގައި އިންނެވުމުން ހިތަށް އެރީ، އެބޭފުޅާގެ ވިސްނުންފުޅު ހުރިގޮތްވެސް އެނގިގެންދާނެ ކަމަށެވެ. އެބޭފުޅާ ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ އަށް ހޯއްދަވައިދެއްވި ތަރައްޤީގެ ވާހަކަތައް ހިއްސާ ކުރައްވާނެ ކަމަށެވެ. ކަންތައްތައް ވެގެން ދިޔައީވެސް ހަމަ އެގޮތަށެވެ. ޕްރޮގްރާމް ހުށަހަޅަން އިން ޕްރެޒެންޓަރ، އެކި ގޮތްގޮތައް މައުމޫނަށް ސުވާލުތައް ކުރިމަތި ކުރަމުން ގެންދިޔައެވެ.

އެހެން ބުނުމާއެކެ، އިން ގޮޑިން ތެދުވެގެން ގޮސް ޓީވީ ނިތްވާލީ އެއީ ކިހާވަރެއްގެ މީހެއްކައް އަޅުގަނޑަށް އިހުސާސް ކުރެވުމުންނެވެ. އިސްލާމީ ތަޢުލީމު އުގެނި ވަޑައިގެން ހުންނެވި މައުމޫނުފަދަ ކުރީގެ ރައީސަކު އެފަދަ "ވިޔާނުދާ" ވަހަކައެއް ލައިވް ޕްރޮގްރާމްއެއްގައި ބުނެފާނެއޭ އަޅުގަނޑު ހިތަކަށްވެސް ނާރައެވެ.
އެބޭފުޅާއަށް އެހީފުޅުކުރެވުނީ، މާތް ﷲ އެހެންދީންތަކެއްވެސް ބާއްވާލެއްވި ކަމަށްތާއެވެ. ނޫނޭ އެއީ ވާ، މޯޅުމީހެއް ދޯއެވެ؟ މާތް ﷲ ބާއްވާލެއްވީ ހަމައެންމެ ދީނެއްކަމެއް އެކަލޭގެއަށް ހަމަނޭންގެނީ ހެއްޔެވެ. ނޫނީ، އެބޭފުޅާގެ އަރިހުގައި މަސައްކަތްކުރައްވާ އަފުރާޝީމް ފަދަ ބޭފުޅުން، އިސްލާމްދީނުގެ ރުކުންތަށް އޮޅުވާލިހެން، އެބޭފުޅާވެސް މަސައްކަތް ކުރައްވަން ފެއްޓެވީ ތޯއްޗެކެވެ.

އަންހެނުންގެ ހައްޤުތަކަށް އަރައިގަންނަނީ ތިބޭފުޅުންނެވެ!

މިހާރަކަށް އައިސް ކޮންމެވެސް ބައެއްގެ ހައްގެއް ގެއްލިގެން އެ ހޯދަން މުޒާހަރާ ކުރުމާއި، ތަން ތަނަށް ސިޓީ ފޮނުވުމާއި، މީޑިޔާތަކުގައި އެވާހަކަތަށް ދެއްކުމަކީ ވަރަށް އާންމުވެފައިވާ ކަމެކެވެ. އެއްބަޔަކު މުސްކުޅިންގެ ހައްގުތައް ނުލިބިގެން ދައުވާ ކުރާއިރު އަނެއްބަޔަކު ގޮވަނީ ކުޑަކުދީންގެ ހައްގުތައް ހޯދައިދިނުމަށެވެ. ބައެއްމީހުން އަންހެނުންގެ ހައްގުތައް ނުލިބިގެން އުޅޭއިރު އެހެންތަނަކުން ގޮވަނީ ކުއްވެރިންގެ ހައްގުތައް ހޯދައިދިނުމަށެވެ. ކޮންމެއަކަސް ކޮންމެ ބަޔަކީވެސް އަދި އެއްޗަކީވެސް ކޮންމެވެސް ހައްގެއް ލިބިގެންވާ ބައެއްކަމާއި އެއްޗެއްކަން ކޮންމެ މީހަކުވެސް ގަބޫލުކުރެއެވެ. އަޅުގަނޑު ކުރިން މި އިޝާރާތްކުރި ހައްގުތަކުގެ ތެރެއިންވެސް އަންހެނުންގެ ހައްޤުތައް ނުލިބިގެން އުޅޭމީހުންގެ އަޑުތަކަކީ މީޑިޔާގައި ވަރަށް ބާރަށް ފެތުރޭ އަޑުތަކެކެވެ. އެންމެ ގިނަ ބަޔަކު ކަންބޮޑުވަނީވެސް އަންހެނުންނަށް އެބައި މީހުންގެ ހައްގު ނުލިބޭތީއެވެ. ހައިރާންވާންޖެހޭ ކަމަކީ ބައެއް ފިރެހެން ބޭފުޅުންވެސް ތިމާމެންގެ ހައްގުގެ ވާހަކަ ނުދަށްކާ މި ކަނބަލުންގެ ހައްގުގައި ވަކާލާތު ކުރާކަމެވެ. ފަހަރުގައި މިއީ އެބޭފުޅުންގެ ދީލަތިކަމާއި ހިތް ތިރި ކަމަށް ވުމީވެސް ހަމަ ވެދާނެކަމެކެވެ.

އަންހެނުންނަށް އެކަނބަލުންގެ ހައްގުތައް ހޯދައިދިނުމުގެ ނަމުގައި އަދުގެ ސަރުކާރުންވެސް ގެންދަނީ ވަރަށް މަސައްކަތްތަކެއް ކުރަމުންނެވެ. އެގޮތުން ސިޔާސީ ދާއިރާއަށް އަންހެން ބެފުޅުން ވެއްދުމަށްޓަކައި ގާނޫނު އަސާސީގެ ދަށުން އިންތިހާބު ކުރުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވާ އަތޮޅު ކައުންސިލް ތަކާއި، ރަށު ކައުންސިލް ތަކުގެ މެންބަރުންގެ ވަކި އިންސައްތައެއް އަންހެން ބޭފުޅުންނަށް ހާއްޞަ ކުރަށްވާނެކަމަށް ރައީސް ނަޝީދުގެ ރޭޑިޔޯ ހިޠާބެއްގައި ވިދާޅުވި ވާހަކަ އަޅުގަނޑު ހަނދާން އެބަހުއްޓެވެ. އަދި މިއެއްވެސް ނޫނެވެ. ރައްޔެތުންގެ މަޖިލީހުގެ އިންތިހާބުގެ ކުރިންވެސް އެބޭފުޅާ ، ވަކި ޕާޓީއަކަށް ބެލުމެއްނެތި 10 އަންހެން ކަނބަލުންނަށް ކެމްޕޭން ކޮށްދެއްވާނެކަމަށް ވެސް ވަނީ ވައުދުވެފައެވެ. އެކަން ކޮށްދެވުނުތޯ ނުވަތަ ނޫންތޯ، އެއީ އެހެން ބަހުސެކެވެ. މިހުރިހާ ކަމަކީވެސް އަންހެނުންނަށް ނުލިބިގެން އުޅޭ ހައްގުތައް ހޯދައިދިނުމުގެ ނަމުގައި އަދުގެ ސަރުކާރުން ކުރަށްވަން ވައުދު ވެފައިވާ ކަންކަމެވެ.

ސަރުކާރުން މިފަދައިން އަމަލު ކުރަން ފެށުމުން އެއްކަލަ ހައްގުތައް ނުލިބިގެން ކިރުބޯކުއްޖަކު "ރޯފަދައިން" ރޮމުން ދިޔަ ކަނބަލުންތައް ތިބީ ވަރަށް ހެދިފައެވެ. ގަބޫލު ކުރެވުނީ އެކަނބަލުންގެ ހައްގުތައް ފުރިހަމަވަނީކަމަށެވެ. ނަމަވެސް ހަޤީ ގަތަކީ އެއީ ސަރުކާރުން އަންހެން ބެފުޅުންގެ އަތުން ނިގުޅައިގެން ހައްގުތަކެއްކަމެވެ. އެކަނބަލުންގެ ހައްގުގައި މަސައްކަތް ކުރާ ފަރާތްތަކުގެ މޫނުމަތީގައި ޖެއްސެވި ތަފާލެއް ކަމެވެ. އާދެ ކުޑަ ކުޑަ މިސާލެކެވެ. ސަރުކާރުން އެވިދާޅުވަނީ ކައުންސިލް ތަކުގެ 10 އިންސައްތަ އަންހެން ކަނބަލުންނަށް ހާއްޞަ ކުރަށްވާނެ ކަމަށެވެ. މިހެން ހެދުމުން އެކަނބަލުންނަށް ކައުންސިލްގެ 100 އިނސައްތަ ހޯދުމަށް އޮތް މަގު ބަންދުވީއެވެ. އެ މިންގަނޑު ކަނޑަނާޅާނަމަ އަންހެން ބޭފުޅުން ކުރިމަތި ލަށްވައިގެން މުޅިކައުންސިލް އަންހެން ކަނބަލުންގެ އަތްދަށަށް ގެނައުމުގެ ފުރުޞަތުވެސް އެބައޮތެވެ. އެހެންނަމަވެސް އެ ހައްގު އެއޮތީ ސަރުކާރުން ، ހައްގު ހޯދައިދިނުމުގެ ނަމުގައި ނިގުޅައިނެފައެވެ. ސަރުކާރުން އެކުރީ މީހަކު ލޯބިން ފިރުމާލުމުގެ ނަމުގައި ކަންކަށިމަތީ ވިއްލާލުން ފަދަކަމެކެވެ. ހައްގުތައް ނުލިބިގެން ދައުވާ ކުރާމީހުންނަށް އެމީހުންގެ ހައްގުތައް އެނގޭ ވަރަކީ މިހުރީއެވެ. ހައްގޭ ކިޔައިފައި ކޮންމެފަދަ ކަމެއްކުރިޔަސް މިތިބެވެނީ ހަމަ ރުހެވިގެންނެވެ.

ހައްގުތައް ގެއްލިގެން ހަޅޭއް ފަޅޭއް މިޖާހާ އަންހެނެއް ކުރެން ތިޔައިގެ ތެރެއިން ބޭފުޅަކު ނުލިބިގެން އުޅެނީ ކޮން ހައްގެއް ތޯ އަޅެސުވާލު ކޮށްލަބަލާށެވެ. އެކަނބަލުންނަށްވެސް ގެއްލިގެން އުޅޭ ހައަގަކީ ކޮބައިކަމެއް ބަޔާންކޮށްދޭން އެނގޭނެކަމާމެދު އަޅުގަނޑަށް ޝަށްކެވެ. ފިރެހެނުން ސޯޓުބުރި ލައިގެން ފުޓުބޯޅަކުޅޭތީވެ (މިދަންނަވަނީ އައުރަ ނާވާ ނުވާވަރުގެ ސޯޓު ބުރި ލައިގެން ކުޅޭ ވާހަކައެއް ނޫން) އެކަނބަލުންނަށްވެސް އެފަދައިން އުޅެވެން ޖެހޭނެކަމަށް ދައުވާކުރާނަމަ އެދައުއުވާކުރެވެނީ އަމިއްލަ ހައްގު ނިގުޅައިގަތުމަށް އެދިއެވެ. އެކަނބަލުންގެ ދައުވާއަކީ ފިރެހެނުން ވަރިކުރާ ފަދައި ވަރިކުރުމުގެ ހައްގު ލިބުމަށް ކަމުގައިވާނަމަ އެ ވަކާލާތުކުރެވެނީވެސް އަމިއްލަ ހައްގު ނިގުޅައިގަތުމަށެވެ. ނުވަތަ އެކަނބަލުންގެ ދައުވާއަކީ ފިރެހެނުން ކޯޓުތަކުގެ ގާޟީކަން ކުރާ ފަދައިން އެކަނބަލުންވެސް ކުރުމުގެ ހައްގު ހޯދުމަށްކަމުގައިވާނަމަ އެ މަސައްކަތް ކުރެވެނީވެސް ހަމަ އެކަނބަލުންގެ ހައްގު އަމިއްލަޔަށް ނިގުޅައިގަތުމަށެވެ. މިދެންނެވި އެއްޗެއްގެ ތަފްސީލަށް ޖެހިލަމާ ހިންގަވާށެވެ. އިސްލާމް ދީނުގައި ގަސްތަކާ ނުލާ މަރާ މީހެއް ހުކުމަކީ މެރުންކަން ތިބޭފުޅުންވެސް ގަބޫލުކުރަށްވާނެއެވެ. މެރުމަކީ އޭގެ ޒާތުގި ގޯސްކަމެއް ކަމުގައި ސިފަ ކުރެވުނަސް ގާތިލް މެރުމަކީ އޭނަގެ ހައްގެއް ނޫންތޯއެވެ؟ އަދި އެމީހަކު ނުމަރައި ދޫކޮށްލުމަކީ އެބޭފުޅެއްގެ ހައްގު ނިގުޅައިގަތުން ކަމަކަށް ނުވާނެ ތޯއެވެ؟ ހަމަ މި ބީދައިން އަންހެން ކަނބަލުންގެ ވަނާތަށް ފޮރުވާ ހިލޭ މީހުންގެ ލޯތަކުން ސަލާމަތް ވުމަކީ އެކަނބަލުންނަށް އަނގަވާފައި ވާ ގޮތަށް ވީހިނދު އެއީ އެމީހުންގެ ހައްގަކައް ނުވާނެތޯއެ؟ އަދި އެ ކަނބަލުން އޮރިޔާންކޮށް ބޯޅަ ދަނޑަށް އެރުވުމަކީ އެ ހައްގު ނިގުޅައި ގަތުމަކަށްވެސް ނުވާނެތޯއެވެ؟

އަންހެނުންގެ ހައްގުތައް ނުލިބިގެން ގޮވާލާ ޖަމާއްތަކަށް ހަގީގަތުގައި މި ގޮވާލެވެނީ އެ ކަނބަލުންގެ ހައްގުތައް ނިގުޅައިގަތުމަށް ކަމާމެދަކު ޝަށްކެއް ނެތެވެ. ނަމަވެސް ބަޔަކު ތިމާމެންގެ ހައްގުތައް ނިގުޅައިގަންނަ އިރު އެ ގެއްލިގެން ދަނީ ހައްގެއްކަން ރޭކާލާނީވެސް، އެންމެ ކުޑަމިނުން ތިމާގެ ހައްގު ތިމާޔަށް އެނގިގެން ނޫންތޯއެވެ. އަންހެނުންގެ ހައްގުތަކައް އަރައިގަންނަނީ އެބޭފުޅުންކަމުގައި އަޅުގަނޑު މިދަންނަވަނީ މިހެންވެގެންނެވެ.

ހަޖަމު ނުކުރެވުނަސް ހަވީރު ނޫހުން ދެންތީ ބޮޑުވަރެއް

ވޭތުވެދިޔަ 30 އަހަރުގެ ވެރިކަމުގެ ފޮނިބޮއެ، އެވެރިކަމުން ލިބުނު ބައިވަރުތަކުން ހެދިބޮޑުވެ، ފަލަވެ، ފުޅާވެފައިވާ ހަވީރު ނޫހަކީ ކޮން މަޤުސަދެއްގައި ނޫސްވެރިކަން ކުރާ ބައެއްބާވައެވެ. ރާއްޖޭގެ ލޮބުވެތި ހުރިހާ ރައްޔިތުންނަށް އެނގޭނެ ފަދައިން ހަވީރު ނޫހަކީ މައުމޫން އަބުދުލް ޤައްޔޫމުގެ އެންމެ ގާތް ރަޙުމަތްތެރިޔާއަށް އެބޭފުޅާ “ކުރާހިތްވާ ކަމަކަށް” ފުރުސަތު ދެއްވުމުގެ ގޮތުން ވޭތުވެދިޔަ 30 އަހަރުގެ މައުމޫނުގެ ވެރިކަމުގައި، ދިވެހި ސަރުކާރުން ނުހައްޤުން ފައިސާ ޚަރަދުކޮށްގެން އުފައްދާ ތަރައްޤީ ކޮށްފައިވާ މައުމޫނަށް ސަނާކިޔާ މެޝިނެކެވެ. ހަވީރު ނޫހުގެ އިތުރުން މިކަހަލަ އެހެން ދެތިން ނޫހެއްވެސް ރާއްޖޭގައި ނެރެއެވެ. ރައްޔިތުންގެ ކުރިމަތީގައި މައުމޫނުގެ ޤަދަރާއި ހައިބަތު ބޮޑުކުރުމަށް އަބަދުވެސް ހަވީރު ނޫހުން ބުރަ މަސައްކަތްތަކެއް ކުރިއެވެ. އަދި މިހާރުވެސް ކުރާކަން ދިވެހި އެއްމެނަށް ރަނގަޅަށް އެނގެއެވެ. ވޭތުވެދިޔަ ދިގު ޒަމާނުގައި ސަރުކާރަށް ފާޑެއް ކިޔާފައި ނުވާތާންގައި އެހެންމީހަކު ކިޔާ ފާޑެއް ލިޔެލަންވެސް ކެރިފައެއް ނެތެވެ. މިސަބަބާއި ހުރެ ހަވީރު ނޫހަކީ ބޭކާރު ކަރުދާސް ބޮނޑިއެއްގެ ކަމަށް ދިވެހިން ދެކޭތާ ކިތަންމެ ދުވަހެކެވެ. ހަވީރު ނޫސް ބަލާ ގިނަމީހުންނަކީ އޭގައި ހިމެނޭ އިޢުލާނާއި އިސްތިހާރު ބަލާބަޔަކެވެ.

From “Anni” to “H.E.P”

“You know, they said this day would never come. They said our sights were set too high. They said that this country was too divided; too disillusioned to ever come together around a common purpose.”

So spoke Barack Obama on the night that he won the Iowa caucuses. It was the night that he proved he could win the presidency by claiming victory in a largely white state.

These are words that could have easily been spoken by Mohamed Nasheed (Anni) when he won last year’s presidential election.

People try to put us down

When Anni and other reformists first launched the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) many did not believe that it had a chance of succeeding. After all, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s government was all-powerful and exercised a huge degree of control over society.

Anni himself was seen as a figure who did not “look” like a president and thus would be unable to mobilize support in a country which was still deemed too conservative. This partly explains why MDP opted to go for a dual leadership structure, with a party president and a chairman. Ibrahim Ismail and Mohamed Munavvar both served as party president but did not manage to make much headway.

Anni and MDP were seen as too divisive. This led to all opposition forces trying to unite behind one candidate, with both Hassan Saeed and Gasim Ibrahim vying for that spot. Dr. Ahmed Shaheed, speaking on behalf of Saeed tried to convince Anni to stand aside by asking whether Maldivians were more likely to vote for “foreigners” like the two of them, or for a “mullah” like Saeed.

Despite all this, against the odds, Anni managed to cobble together a victory in the presidential election. Many people familiar with the political spectrum would not have believed that it was possible. The election was, in many ways, a fairy tale. Or, as GQ magazine described it, a “momentous victory of belief against chaos.”

Talking ‘bout my generation

Since assuming power President Nasheed has further confounded critics by fitting into the role in a refreshing way. He has scaled back on the pomp and ceremony that Gayoom enjoyed. He fits in comfortably with the new, younger generation.

People now accept that the presidency is defined more by the strength of the occupant’s character than by gaudy displays of wealth and power. Nasheed walks to work everyday and is in the habit of making appearances at places like Al Fresco and the local market. “It’s better for the environment and I can stop and chat to people on the way,” explained Nasheed.

By all accounts, Nasheed takes a very business-like approach to government and gets deeply involved in policy issues. This has come as a bit of a surprise to opponents who subscribed to the school of thought that activism and intelligence could not coexist in one person.

The president’s hands-on approach was evident this Friday on DhiFM’s “One to One” show. It was the first time that a sitting president took questions from the public in a live radio show. Nasheed displayed a firm grasp of the issues as he engaged in a lively discussion with the programme’s host and those that phoned in.

Nasheed has managed to balance competing interests, keep the government in one piece, deliver on a few manifesto pledges; and all this while averting an economic collapse despite the empty treasury he inherited.

“It is one of life’s ironies that it falls upon this government led by a party, as has been criticized, accused of being activists with little experience of governing, to put the house back in order,” the president declared to a meeting of donors.

With twenty percent of his term up, the accusation that Nasheed is somehow not “qualified” no longer holds up. That his bachelor’s degree in maritime studies is the least mentioned line in his biography is unsurprising. After all, it seems to have had the least effect on his political career. Solitary confinement, exile, journalism, the study of Maldivian history, and the experience of starting a movement and managing a political party are what really inform his decisions.

Domestic bliss

And what has been achieved in one year? Better governance: corruption has been curbed and there is greater transparency. The influence of gangs, which are believed to have been in an unholy alliance with the former regime, has diminished.

An independent Anti-Corruption Commission and empowered customs and police services have seen the rule of law strengthened. The fact that more drugs have been seized during the last year than in the preceding five is testament to the work of these institutions.

The country is also closer to seeing real social justice. The old welfare system which was controlled by the presidential palace and saw much of the benefits go to family and cronies has been abolished. A new social protection programme provides a pension of Rf2,000 to all those over 65 years of age.

In what is a significant step for the government’s affordable healthcare pledge, about half the adult population of the country has been signed up for the Madhana insurance scheme. While utility tariffs are being raised in order to help plug the deficit, targeted subsidies are ensuring that the poor do not slip through the net.

Steps have also been taken to foster a climate for economic development. A responsible economic framework has been established with the assistance of the IMF. This involved tough political decisions which the former regime avoided taking. Rather than financing development projects through the budget, they are to be implemented through public-private partnerships (PPPs).

An early success story can already be seen. Transport networks, one of the MDP’s key pledges, have been established in two provinces and have brought markets and services closer to the local communities.

International affairs

President Nasheed’s star has really shone on the international stage. Seeing their foe being elevated to the role of global statesman has been a particular source of ire for his critics.

Since taking office, Nasheed has forged close links with democratic India, spent a night at Windsor Castle with Queen Elizabeth II, gave an impassioned plea for action against climate change at the United Nations General Assembly, addressed the Annual Conference of the British Conservative Party, grabbed the world’s headlines with an underwater cabinet meeting, scooped up the Anna Lindh Memorial Prize for Human Rights and Climate Change, been named Time magazine’s leading Hero of the Environment, and negotiated a $92 million dollar fiscal adjustment programme from the IMF.

Yet, all this pales in comparison to the Maldives’ role at the COP15 summit held in Copenhagen. With the talks on the brink of collapse, Nasheed and the Maldives delegation acted as a bridge between the developing and developed countries as they sought to come up with a compromise that would allow the process to carry on at the next COP summit to be held in Cancun, Mexico.

The leaders of the industrialized nations recognized that the support of the Maldives was essential if such an agreement was to be brokered and decided to invite Nasheed to the small group of 28 countries known as the “circle of commitment”.

What transpired in that room has since been leaked in The Guardian; that it was China and it’s proxies in the G77- led by its chief negotiator Lumumba Stanislaus-Kaw Di-Aping of Sudan (incidentally, one of the most brutal countries on earth) that wrecked the chances for a stronger agreement is now well known.

So what benefits have the president’s performance at COP15 brought to the Maldives? For a start, cash for adaptation measures: $30 billion in short term aid from the developed countries spread out over the next three years. It gets better in the long term with a commitment to raise the figure to $100 billion by 2020. The Maldives will get a large share as it is a vulnerable, small island state.

However, the diplomatic achievement is much more valuable. Nasheed has now guaranteed his place as one of the key global figures on climate change with access to all the world leaders that matter. His voice will be an important one in the fight against climate change in the months and years to come.

Great Expectations

This assessment began with a parallel to the 44th American president, and it ends on a similar note. In many ways, the situation this country’s 4th president finds himself in is not much different: universally adored abroad, met with a sceptical and divided country at home.

Both face bitter political enemies who question their legitimacy and are bent on disrupting their agendas. They face demanding coalition partners with whom they are forced to compromise with. And to top it off, the weight of expectation from the people who voted for them has been immense.

This balancing act is not a situation either of them would have wished for; but their actions show that it is a reality that they are comfortable with.

Playing with the hand you are dealt whilst not losing sight of the long-term objective is what this is all about. And it is in this sense that Anni and His Excellency the President have proved to be not so different after all.

Ulsan aims a serious encounter against Maldives

Ulsan Hyundai Horang-I assistant coach Lee Sang-Cheol believes the friendly game against Maldives national team will not be an easy task and added the game is a huge opportunity for his players to prove their worth.

“This isn’t going to be an easy task. We are coming out as a club and Maldives will be out with their best players and as a national team. So definitely, this won’t be an easy game” Cheol said speaking at the news conference held at National Stadium a while ago.

Ulsan Hyundai visited Maldives for the friendly without their foreign players ( 2 Brazilian strikers, 1 Australian midfielder and 1 Macedonia defender) and national team players.

“Our league has ended and our foreign players are on leave. National team players are with the national team in Europe. This is an opportunity for the rest of the squad to prove their worth”

“Our main priority is to finish the game without any of our player suffering a serious injury”

Cheol further added that the game came into effect after discussions between FAM president Ali Azim and FIFA vice president Chung Mong Joon ( President of Korea Football Association).

“This game is arranged after discussions between FAM president and FIFA vice president. We just came to help Maldives national team” Cheol added.

Cheol noted that he is not a stranger to Maldivian football having visited the island nation in 2001 with a Korea team and in 2004 as an analyst of World Cup Qualifying game between Maldives and South Korea.

Maldives national team manager Mauroof Ahmed (Maattey) said this game is a good opportunity to test those players, who are returning from injury.

“Bahrain training trip is the best preparation trip we had so far and this game is a good opportunity to test those players, who are returning from injury” Maattey said.

“Hanim kept a close eye on Tom when the team was away in Bahrain. He has progressed very well and he is likely to be used in this game”

“This is also a good opportunity for the players to show what they have learnt from Bahrain trip”

Maattey also noted that the managers agreed to allow maximum seven changes in the game, therefore it is not easy to say who will start the game.

It is also agreed to go for penalty kicks to decide the winner if the game ended as a draw in regular time.

Ulsan Hyundai Horang-I finished this year’s K-league in the 8th position.

ދެންއޮތީ މަސަޖުޕާލާތަކާއި ހަށިވިއްކުމުގެ ވިޔަފާރިއެވެ. ހުރިހާ ޕާލާތަކެއް ބަންދުކޮށްފައި ބޮޑުނައިޓް ކްލަބެއް ހުލުވާނީއެވެ. 100 އަންހެން ކުދިން ހަމަވާންޖެހޭނެއެވެ. ހަށިވިއްކަން ނުވަތަ ގަންނަންބޭނުންވާ ކޮންމެމީހަކު ދާނިއެތަނަށެވެ. އެތަންމިތަނުގައި ވަގަށް ހަށިވިއްކުމުގެ ވިޔަފާރި އެއްފަހަރާ ހުއްޓުނީއެވެ. ރަގަޅު ހަރުދަނާ ޤަވާޢިދެއް އޮންނަންވާނެއެވެ. ފުލުހުން ބަލަމުންދާނެއެވެ. ޓްރޭޑް މިނިސްޓްރީން ފާރަވެރިވާނެއެވެ. ޢަދިލް ސަލީމް ސަރުދާރަކަށް ހުންނަވާނެއެވެ. ވަދެނިކުމެވާ އެންމެން ބަލައިފާސްކުރާނީ ފުލުހުންނެވެ. ކުރީސަރުކާރުން ހަމައެއް ލަމައެއްނެތި މަސާޖުޕާލާތަކަށް ދީފައިއޮތް ހުއްދަތައް ބާތިލިކުރާނީއެވެ. ހަމަޖެހޭ ރަގަޅު އުސޫލަކުން ގެންދިއުމަށްޓަކައި ޤަވާޢިދުތައް ހަރުދަނާވާންޖެހޭނެއެވެ. ހުރިހާކޮޓަރިއެއްގައި ސެކިއުރިޓީ ކެމެރާ ހަރުކުރުކޮށްގެން ވަދެނިކުމެވާ އެންމެން ބެލޭނެ ހަރުދަނާ ނިޒާމެއް ގާއިމުކުރަން ޖެހޭނެއެވެ. ޤަވާޢިދާއި ޚިލާފުވެއްޖިއްޔާ ކްލަބު ބަންދުކުރާނީއެވެ.

11 ނޮވެމްބަރު 2008 ގައި ޤައުމުގެ އެންމެ އިސްވެރިޔާގެ މަޤާމުގެ ހުވައި މާތްﷲ ގަންދީ ހުވައި ކުރުމުގެ ފުރުޞަތު ތަނަވަސްކޮށްދިނީ، ހެޔޮވެރިކަމެއް ކުރައްވާނެކަމަށް، އެތައް ތަނެއްގައި މުޙައްމަދު ނަޝީދު އާއި މުޙައްމަދު ނަޝީދުގެ އިއްތިހާދުގައި ހިމެނޭ އެހެން ސިޔާސީ ޕާޓީތަކުގެ އިސްވެރިންގެވެސް ބަހުގެ މައްޗަށް އިތުބާރުކޮށް، ހެޔޮ ރަގަޅުވެރިކަމަކަށެވެ.
ޑިމޮކްރަސީގެ ވެރިކަމަށް އެންއަހަރު ދުވަސް ފާއިތުވެގެން ދިޔަފަހުން ފެންނަމުން، އަޑުއިވެމުންދަނީ، އަޑުއަހަން އެހާ ފަސޭހަ ވާހަކަ ތަކެއްނޫންކަންއެގެއެވެ. މިކަމަކީ ހެޔޮވެރިކަމެއް ކުރުމަށް އަތުކުރި އޮޅާލައްވައިގެން ހުންނެވި ރައީސް މުޙައްމަދު ނަޝީދުގެ ސަރުކާރަށް ފައިދާ ހުރިކަމެއްވެސްނޫނެވެ.

ޔޫރަޕުގެ ޤައުމުތަކުގެ ސަރުކާރުތައް ރުއްސުމައްޓަކައި މާތްވެގެންވާ އިސްލާމްދީނާއި، ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި މިހާރު ޢަމަލު ކުރަމުންގެންދާ ޤާނޫނުއަސާސީގެ އެތައްމާއްދާއަކާއި ޚިލާފު ކަމެއް ކުރުމަކީ ދިވެހިޤައުމުގެ ރައްޔިތުން ރުހޭނެކަމެއްނޫންކަންވެސް ހަނދާންކޮށްދެމެވެ. ޔޫރަޕުގެ ސަރުކާރުތައް ރުއްސުމަށް ވުރެ ސަރުކާރަށާއި މުޙައްމަދު ނަޝީދަށްވެސް ރަގަޅުވާނީ ﷲގެ ރުއްސެވުމާއި، އެކަލާނގެ ނަބިއްޔާ މުޙައްމަދު ޞައްލައްﷲ ޢަލައިވަސައްލަމް ދައްކަވާފައިވާ މަގުގައި ހިގުމެވެ. މިކަމުގެ ސަބަބުން ދިވެހި ރައްޔިތުންގެ ރުހުމާއި، އެއްބައިވަންތަކަން ޙާޞިލް ކުރެވި، ﷲގެ ޙަޟުރަތުގައިވެސް އިރާދަ ކުރެއްވިއްޔާ ރަގަޅު ކާމިޔާބު ލިބޭމީހުންގެ ތެރޭގައި ހިމެނޭ މީހަކަށްވެގެންދާނެއެވެ.

ކާމިޔާބު ރައީސަކަށް ވުމައްޓަކައި ﷲ ޙަރާމްކުރައްވާ ފައިވާ ބަނގުރާ ވިއްކުމަށް ހުއްދަ ދިނުމަށް ޤަވާޢިދުތައްހެދުމުގެ ބަދަލުގައި، ﷲގެ މަގަށް ތަބާވުމަށްވެސް ގޮވާލަމެވެ. މީހުން ދިރިއުޅޭ ރަށްރަށުގައި ބަނގުރާ ވިއްކުމަށް ހުއްދަ ދޫކުރުމަކީ ސަރުކާރާއިމެދު ދިވެހިރައްޔިތުންގެ ހިތުގައި އުފެދިފައިވާ އިހްތިރާމާއި، ލޯތްބަށް ބުރުއަރާނެކަމެއްކަމުގައި ދަންނަވަމެވެ. މިކަމުގެ ސަބަބުން އިނދިކޮޅު ފަރާތްތަކުގެ ބަސް ގަދަވެ ރައްޔިތުންގެ ހިތްތައް ފަތަހަ ކުރުމަށް އެފަރާތްތަކަށް ފަސޭހަވެގެންދާނެއެވެ.

އެހެންކަމުން އެކަމަކީ ސިޔާސީ ކުރިމަގަށް ހުރަހަކަށް ވެދާނެކަމެކެވެ. މަނިކުފާނުގެ ކެބިނެޓުގައި ހިމެނި ވަޑައިގަންނަވާ ބޭފުޅުންގެ ތެރޭގައި އިސްލާމްދީނަށް ފުރައްސާރަ ކުރާބޭފުޅުންނާއި، ދީނުގެ ބައެއް ޙުކުމްތަކަށް ނަފްރަތު ކުރާމީހުން އުޅޭކަމަށް އަޑު ފެތެރެމުންދެއެވެ މިފަދަ ފަރާތްތައް ކެބިނެޓުން ބޭރުކޮށް، އިސްލާމްދީން ދެކެ ލޯބިވާ ފަރާތްތަކަށް އިސްކަންދީގެން ސަރުކާރުހިންގުމަށް މަސައްކަތް ކުރުމަށް ނަޞޭހަތްތެރިވަމެވެ. ފަހަރުގައި މިނަޞޭހަތް ޤަބޫލްނުކުރެވިދާނެއެވެ. ނަމަވެސް ފަހުން މިކަން ހަނދާންވާނެއެވެ. އެދުވަހުން ވަގުތު އޮންނާނީ ފާއިތުވެފައެވެ. ކުރެވޭނޭ މާބޮޑު ކަމެއްނޯންނާނެއެވެ.
ކަންތައް ހިގަމުންދާ ގޮތަށް ބަލާއިރު، އެއްވެސް ޕާޓީއަކަށް އެކަނި ނުކުމެ ސަރުކާރު ހިންގުމުގެ ތާޢީދެއް ހޯދުމަކީ ވަރަށްވެސް ދުރުކަމެކެވެ. އެހެންކަމުން، ސިޔާސީ މައިދާނުގައި ތެދުވެރިކަމާއި، ބުނާބަހުގެ އަގުހިފެހެއްޓުމަކީވެސް ވަރަށް މުހިންމު ކަމެއްކަމުގައި ދަންނަވަމެވެ.

ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި މީހންދިރިއުޅޭ ރަށްރަށުގައި ބަނގުރާވިއްކުމަށް ހުއްދަ ދިނުމަކީ މަނިކުފާނުގެ ސަރުކާރުން ކުރެވޭނެ އެންމެ ތާކުންތާކުނުޖެހޭ ކަމަށްވެގެންދާނެއެވެ.

އެހެންކަމުން މިކަންނުކުރުމަށް މަނިކުފާނަށް ނަޞޭހަތްތެރިވަމެވެ. އަދި ޚާލިޤުވަންތަ ﷲއަށް ބިރުވެތިވެހުންނަވައިގެން، ރައްޔިތުން ޙަވާލުކުރިވެރިކަން އެމީހުންގެ މައްޗަށް ރަގޅު ގޮތުގައި ކުރައްވަމުންގެންދިއުމަށްވެސް މަނިކުފާނަށް ނަޞޭހަތްތެރިވަމެވެ. މަނިކުފާނުގެ އަރިސްމީހުންނަކީ މަނިކުފާނުދެކެ އެންމެ ލޯބިވާމީހުންނަށް ނުވެހިގާއިދާނެއެވެ
އެކަމަކު ކިތަންމެ ދުރުގައިވީނަމަވެސް މަނިކުފާނަށް ހެޔޮ ނަޞޭހަތް ދޭމީހުންނަކީ މަނިކުފާނުދެކެ އެންމެ ބޮޑަށް ލޯބިވާ މީހުންކަމުގައި ދުށުމަށްވެސް ނަޞޭޙަތްތެރިވަމެވެ.

ވެރިކަމުގައި 30 އަހަރު، ޑީ.އާރު.ޕީ ގެ ޒައީމު ކަމުގައި މަރު ދުވަހަށް

މައުމޫނެވެ! ބަޔަކު ކަމެއް ހަވާލުކޮށްފިއްޔާ ދުނިޔެއިން މޮޔަވާ ގޮތް ތިޔަވަނީ އަޅެ ކީއްވެހެއްޔެވެ؟ ތިފާޑަށް އުޅޭ އެކަކުވެސް އަހަރުމެން މި އުޑު ދަށަކުން ނުދެކެވެ. މީހުން އިބިލީހާއި، ފިރުއައުނާއި، އަދި ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަށް ކުރިން އަރާ އުޅުނު ކަމަށްބުނާ ރަންނަމާރީގެ ވާހަކަވެސް ދައްކާ އުޅެއެވެ. މައުމޫނާއެވެ! މިއަދު ވެސް އަދި އިއްޔެވެސް ތި ބަލަނީ ގައުމުގައި ފިތުނަ ފަސާދަ އުފައްދާ ރައްޔިތުންނަށް ދެރައެއް ދެވޭތޯއެވެ. މީހާ މުސްކުޅިވެ، ގައިބާރު ދެރަވެ، ނިކަމެތިވި ދުވަހުވެސް ގޮތްދޫނުކޮށް، ކަލޭގައިގަ ހުރި އަނިޔާވެރިކަމުގެ ސިފަ ނެރެގެން ރައްޔިތުން ކުރިމަތީގައި ތިއުޅެނީ އަޅެ ކޯޗެއް ހަނދާންވެގެން ހެއްޔެވެ؟

ނާސިރު މިގައުމުގައި ވެރިކަން ކޮށް އަމިއްލަ އަށް ރީތިގޮތުގައި ފައިބައިގެން ދިޔައިމާ ކަލޭ ވެރިކަމަށް ސަވާރުވެ 30 އަހަރު ވަންދެން މުޅި ގައުމު ނޮޅައި ކައި ހުސްކޮށްފިއެވެ. ގައުމުގެ އާބާދީގެ ދެބައިކުޅަ އެއްބައި މީހުން އަދިވެސް ދުވާލަކަށް 12 ރުފިޔާވެސް ނުލިބެއެވެ. އެކަމަކު ކަލޭގެ ވެރިކަމުގައި ކަލޭގެ ދިރިއުޅުމުގެ ޙަރަދަށް ތިހިރީ ދުވާލަކަށް ހަތަރު ލައްކަ ރުފިޔާ ޙަރަދުކޮށްފައެވެ. ނުވިތާކަށް ދައުލަތުގެ މުދަލާއި ފައިސާވަނީ ކަލޭގެ ވެރިކަމުގައި ކަލޭގެ އައުވާނުން އެކި ގޮތްގޮތަށް ޙަރަދުކޮށް ނިންމާލާފައެވެ. އެމީހުންގެ ގެދޮރު ވަނީ ދިހަ ބާރަ ބުރިއަށް ހިއްލާފައެވެ. ނާސިރު ވެރިކަމުން ދިޔަ ދުވަހުން ފެށިގެން ކަލޭ ނާސިރުގެ ވަސް ފޮހެލަން ކުރި ޖައްބާރު މަސައްކަތް އަހަރުމެންނަށް އިނގެއެވެ. ނާސިރުގެ އާއިލާއަށް ހަދާލިގޮތް އިނގެއެވެ. މިއަދު ކަލޭތިހިރީ ނިކަމެތި ވެފައެވެ.

މައުމޫނެވެ! ކަލޭތިޔައި ޙުދުމުޙްތާރު ކަމުގެ ދުނިޔޭގެ ބައްޕައެވެ. ވެރިކަމުގައިވެސް ރައްޔިތުން ނިކުމެ ބާލަންދެން ހަމަ ފައިވިއްދާފައި ހުރީއެވެ. މިހާރު ޑީ.އާރު.ޕީ ގެ ޒައީމު ކަމުގައިވެސް ކަލޭ އަނެއްކާ 30 އަހަރު ހުންނަން ތިހިރީ ހިފާފަދޯއެވެ. ޒައީމު ކަމުގައި ކަލޭ މަރުދުވަހަށް ހުންނަން ބޭނުންވާނެއެވެ. ކަލޭތީ ޙުދުމުޙްތާރު ވެރިއެކެވެ. ކަލެއަށް އިނގޭނީ ތިކަހަލަ ދަށުދަރަޖައިގެ ކަންކަމެވެ. މައުމޫނެވެ! މިއަދު ކަލޭގެ ޕާޓީ މީހުން ލައްވާ ސަރުކާރަށް ކިތަންމެ ވަރަކަށް ދުއްތުރާ ކުރާނަމޭ ހިތާ އުޅުނަސް މިއަދުގެ ސަރުކާރާއި ކަލެއާއި ކަލޭގެ ޕާޓީއަށް ވައިވެސް އެޅި ނުލެވޭނެއެވެ. ހަނދާންކުރައްޗެވެ! ކަލޭމެންގެ ފަރާތުން މިގައުމަށް އެއްވެސް ގެއްލުމެއްދޭން ރާވައިފިއްޔާ އަހަރުމެން ކުޅި ދައްކާލާނަމެވެ. ކުޅި ސަމާ ދައްކާލާނަމެވެ.

މައުމޫނެވެ! ކަލޭ އުމުރު ދުވަހަށް ޑީ.އާރު.ޕީ ގެ ޒައީމު ކަމުގައި ހުއްޓަސް، ކަލެއާއި މެދު ކުރެވޭ ތުޙުމަތުތަށް ފުލުހުންވެސް ބަލާނެއެވެ. އަދި ރިޔާސީ ކޮމިސަނުންވެސް ބަލާނެއެވެ. އަދި ދައުވާ ވެސް ކުރާނެއެވެ. ރައްޔިތުންނަށް އަނިޔާދީފައި ފިލަން ނުހަދާށެވެ. އަދި ކަލެއަށް ނުވި ކަންކަން މިސަރުކާރުން ކުރަމުންދާއިރު ކަލޭ އެކަމާއި ހަސަދަ ވެގެން ނުތެޅޭށެވެ. ކަލެއަށް ކަމެއްނުވީ ކަލޭގެ އިޙްލާސްތެރިކަން ނެތީމައެވެ. އަދި ކަލޭގެ ޙުދުމުޙްތާރު ކަމުންނެވެ.

މައުމޫނެވެ! ދެން މި ގައުމުގެ ކަންކަމާއި ކަލޭ ބެހެން ނުހަދައްޗެވެ. އަހަރުމެން ކަލޭ ދައްކާ ވާހަކަ އެއް ގަބޫލެއް ނުކުރާނަމެވެ. އަދި ކަލޭތީ މާ ބޮޑު ގަދަރެއް، އިއްޒަތެއް އޮތް ވެސް މީހެއް ނޫނެވެ. ތިޔައީ ޙުދުމުޙްތާރު، އަނިޔާވެރި ވެރިއެކެވެ.

ހަސަން ސައީދު ވެރިކަމަށް ތެޅި މަރުވަނީ

ހަސަން ސައީދޫއެވެ! ދަތްކުދި ފުނަލަކުން ކިތަންމެ ރީޗަށް ބޯ އޮމާންކޮށް، ދެކޮލުގައި ފުއްޖަހައިގެން ފޮޓޯނަގާ ބޮޑެތި ޕޯސްޓަރު ހަދާ ތިމަންނައަކީ އެންމެ މޮޅު މީހާކަމަށް ދައުވާކޮށް، ތިމަންނަގެ ޕާޓީގައި އުޅެނީ އެންމެ މޮޅެތި މީހުންކަމަށް ދައުވާކުރަމުން ދުވިޔަކަސް ތިޔައީ މިގައުމުގެ ވެރިކަމަށް ކުފޫ ހަމަވާ މީހެއްނޫންކަން ކުދި ބޮޑު އެންމެން ދަނެއެވެ. ހަސަން ސައީދޫއެވެ. އިންތިހާބު ނިމި ވެރިކަން ގެއްލި، އެންމެ ފަހުން ވަޒީފާ ގެއްލުނިމަ ސިއްދީގު ހެދިގެން ފިލާތިއޮތީ އަނެއްކާވެސް އިންތިހާބާއި ކައިރިކޮށްފައި ކަލޭ މަގުތަކަށް ނިކުތީމާ ރައްޔިތުން ކަލޭދެކޭ ހޭބަލިވެގެން ވޯޓުދޭނެކަމަށްދޯއެވެ. ހަސަން ސައީދުއެވެ! ނުވާވަރުގެ ކަންކަމާއި ބޯނުކޮށްޕާށެވެ. ގާބިލުކަމެއްނެތް، ކުރަންނޭންގޭ، ނުވާވަރުގެ ކަންކަމާއި ބޯ ނުތަޅާށެވެ.ތިޔައީ ހަމަ ބޭކާރު ކަމެކެވެ.

ހަސަން ސައީދުއެވެ! ކަލޭގެ ސިޔާސީ ކުރިމަގު ބަނަކަމުން އަދި ކަލެއަށް ދެން އިތުރަށް މިގައުމުގައި ސިޔާސީ ގޮތުން އެއްވެސް ކުރިއެރުމެއް ނުލިބޭނެކަން ކަށަވަރުވާތީ ޑރ. ސަހީދުވެސް މިހާރު ކަލެއާއި ވަކިވީއެވެ. ޑރ. ސަހީދަކީ ސިޔާސީ ގޮތުން ކަލެއަށްވުރެ އެތަށް ގޮތަކުން ކުޅަދާނަ ހުސިޔާރު މީހެކެވެ. ކަލެއަކީ ކަލޭ ކިޔެވިދާއިރާއިންވެސް ގައުމަށް ޙިދުމަތެއްކޮށްނުދެވުނުތާނގައި ރައްޔިތުންނަށް ނުހައްގުން އަނިޔާތަކެއް ދީފައިވާކަމުގެ ތުޙުމަތުތަށް ރައްޔިތުން އެންމެން އަޅުވަމުންދާ މީހެކެވެ. ކަލެއަށް ޑިމޮކްރެސީ އިނގެނީ ކިހާވަރަކަށްތޯ ކަލޭ ޑީ.އާރު.ޕީގައި އުޅުނުއިރު ރައީސް ނަސީދުއާއި، އެމަނިކުފާނުގެ އާއިލާއާއި ބެހޭގޮތުން އައްޑުއަތޮޅުގައި އޮތް ޖަލްސާއެއްގައި ދެއްކި ވާހަކައިން އިނގޭނެއެވެ. މިހާރު ކަލޭތިއުޅެނީ ވެރިކަމަށް ފެންބޮވާވަރުންނެވެ. އެކަމަކު ކަލޭ އޭރުދެއްކި ވާހަކަ ނިކަން ހަނދާންކުރާށެވެ. މިހިރީ ކަލޭގެ ގަމާރުކަމުގެ ލާމަސީލު މިސާލުތަކެވެ. ތަންދޮރު ނުދަންނަކަމުގެ ލާމަސީލު މިސާލުތަކެވެ.

ހަސަން ސައީދުއެވެ! ކަލެއަކީ މައުމޫނަށްވުރެ ޙުދުމުޙްތާރު، ޒާތްކޮޅު ބޮޑު، ގޮތްދައްކާ، ޖަރީގެ ބޮޑު މީހެކެވެ. ކަލެއަށް ވެރިކަން ލިބިއްޖެނަމަ މުޅި ގައުމު ފަނާވާނެއެވެ. މައުމޫނަށްވުރެވެސް ނުބައިވާނެއެވެ. މިއަދު ކަލޭ ފިލާއޮވެ، ޖަމީލުމެން ލައްވާ ވާހަކަތައް ދެއްކިޔަސް ވާނެ އެއްވެސް ކަމެއް ނޯންނާނެއެވެ. މަލްޓި ޕާޓީ ޑިމޮކްރެސީ ނޭންގޭ ބަދަވީންނަކަށް މިގައުމުގެ ވެރިކަން ދެން ކުރާކަށް ލާހިކު ކުޅަދާނައެއްނޫނެވެ. ހަސަން ސައީދުއެވެ! ކަލެއަކީ ހާދަހާވާ ޒާތްކޮޅު ބޮޑު މީހެކެވެ. ހާދަހާވާ ބޮޑު ރޯނު އެދުރެއްދޯއެވެ. ނޭންގޭ ކަމެއްވެސް ނޯވެދޯއެވެ.

DRP Suspends Alhan from party Activities

The opposition Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has temporarily suspended its MP Alhan Fahmy from party activities for voting against the party line in Tuesday’s motion of no-confidence.

A press release by the DRP on Thursday condemned Alhan's actions, adding that the party’s council decided to suspend him and send his case to the ethics committee.

“Among the points noted by DRP’s council in making this decision was that the DRP charter’s article 10, clause five states that a party member must not act against the party’s principles, purpose or policy as a condition; article 22 clause 1 obligates members to respect the party’s principles as his responsibility and work to promote the party’s goals and policies; and parliamentary group members have agreed to follow the decisions of the parliamentary groups,” it reads.

The opposition DRP-People’s Alliance (DRP-PA) submitted a motion of no-confidence against Dr Ahmed Shaheed on 27 October for allegedly misleading the public about diplomatic ties with Israel and putting his personal interests before the national interest.

On Tuesday’s vote against Foreign Minister Dr Ahmed Shaheed, Alhan was the sole opposition MP to not vote in favour of the motion. The motion failed two votes short of the 39 needed.
The DRP press release states that Alhan went against the three-line whip agreed upon by the joint DRP-PA parliamentary group.

At a rally on Tuesday night, DRP MPs called on the party to take “harsh action” against Alhan, while Vili-Maafanu MP Ahmed Nihan called Alhan “a rat”.
Speaking to Minivan News on Thursday, Alhan said he did not have any plans to defect to the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
In the debate prior to the vote, Alhan said political parties should eradicate the “personal animosity” it had
towards each other.

While he had signed the motion when it was submitted, Alhan said, he had then learned that it was baseless.
He added that he met with the foreign minister and found out that there was no agreement to establish full diplomatic ties and the previous government decided to establish ties under three phases in 1994.
“Dr Shaheed is not someone who I agree with politically. I don’t accept Dr Shaheed’s political activities. I don’t accept MDP’s politics and its political thinking,” he said, adding that the opposition party had a responsibility to the nation to act in its best interests.

Under the constitution the president is empowered to formulate policy, he continued, and the announcement that the Maldives would be renewing ties with Israel was made by President Mohamed Nasheed at the UN General Assembly.

The vote of no-confidence should be taken against the president. “If we can’t do that, there’s no chance for us to take this vote against Dr Shaheed,” he said.
While he agreed that a crime did not have to be proven for a motion of no-confidence, said Alhan, the reason for it should be substantial and valid.

“This is a very sad day in my political career as I have to talk against the party that I sacrificed for,” he said, adding all MPs should respect the truth and do what was right.
Alhan said pursuing a motion of no-confidence against Shaheed did not amount to holding the government accountable.

“Therefore, for this reason, what I want to say is that if we complete this work here today, based on unsubstantial and untrue things, this day will be written in dark chapters of Maldivian history,” he said.
